I've been wearing this hexagon Ruby Heritage Signet Ring for close to a decade. The original inspiration came from traditional signet and pinky rings—the kind of substantial gold ring you might imagine your grandpa wearing—but I wanted to make my own version.
The ruby is cut into a wide, flat hexagonal tablet. Because the stone
sits flush with the metal, it almost looks inlaid into the gold, even though it's actually bezel set. The clipped corners of the hexagon soften the shape just enough; it still has a broad presence on the hand without feeling as heavy or blocky as a rectangle might.
The rubies are actually an incredibly deep red. In certain light it can look fairly dark and opaque, and then it catches the light and suddenly flashes red.
